Dhanteras – God Laxmiji Blessings The Joy and Happiness for Every One

Dhanteras is the first day celebration of the 5 day festival of Diwali. This festival is also called “Dhanatrayodashi” & “Dhanvantari Trayodashi”. Dhanteras is derived from two words “Dhan” which means wealth and Teras which means 13th day of Hindu calendar.

Goddess Laxmi is worshipped during this festival to bring wealth & prosperity in our house. People buy new utensils, jewelry etc and worship them. The God of assets (Lord Kuber) is also worshipped on this day.

Celebration
Women make rangolies in the lobby of their house along with the symbol or sticker of Goddess Laxmi’s foot print is pasted on the main door of their house. This is to welcome the Goddess laxmi (Lord of wealth).
Sweets and Namkeens are offered to God and then is distributed to the entire family and friends as prasadam.

Importance
Dhanteras is treated as one of the major festivals in Hindu religion. It is purely believed that, worshipping the Goddess Laxmi this day with pure heart & soul increases the wealth and prosperity in one’s life.

Himalayan Toy Train - Enjoy The Riding on Darjeeling Railway

Darjeeling toy train is also called the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. It is a 2 feet narrow gauge that starts from New Jalpaiguri and runs till Darjeeling in West Bengal. It is listed under the Mountain Railways of India World Heritage Site.

History
The train was built between 1879 - 1881. The track is about 78Km. It daily transfers the tourist from Darjeeling to Ghum. It is India’s highest railway station.

Route
The train starts from New Jalpaiguri and ends at Darjeeling.

The route of the train is given below:
New Jalpaiguri - Siliguri - Sukna - Rangtang - Tindharia - Gaybari - Mahanadi - Kurseong - Tung - Sonada - Ghoom – Darjeeling.

Schedule
The train takes approx. 7 hours and 15 minutes to finish its journey. The train runs every day and the total journey is of 79Km. It departs from New Jalpaiguri Junction at 09:00 hrs and arrives Darjeeling at 16:15 hours.

How to access from Delhi

Air
One has to board a flight from IGI international airport to Kolkata. The further journey to New Jalpaiguri can be completed by a taxi or bus.

Rail
Rajdhani Express, India’s fastest train takes you from Delhi to New Jalpaiguri, than one can board the toy train to Darjeeling.

DAY 04 : Varanasi - Bodhgaya

DAY 05 : Bodhgaya - Ragjir - Nalanda - Patna
After Breakfast drive to Patna enroute sightseeing of Nalanda & Rajgir. Rajgir -The picturesque Rajgir, or Rajagriha as it was known in the past (literally, the abode of kings) is surrounded by the meandering river Banganga and 5 hills. During the lifetime of the Buddha this was the capital of the powerful Magadhan kingdom, ruled by the virtuous King Bimbisara. The hills and caves surrounding Rajagriha were home to spiritual teachers, ranging from the materialism of the early Charavaka school to the metaphysics of Upanishadic philosophers. Like many others in search of truth, Prince Siddhartha, after he renounced his royal heritage came to this city to seek the path of vation. Nalanda -Nalanda was the most renowned university in ancient India. It derived its name from Na-alam-da, meaning Insatiable in Giving, one of the names by which the Lord Buddha was known. DAY 06 : Patna - Vaishali - Kushinagar
After breakfast drive to Kushinagar,Kushinagar is where the Buddha finally attained Mahaparmirvana. Amongst the ruins are the Mukutbandhan Stupa and a beautiful statue of the reclining Buddha enroute visiting Vaishali. Arrive Kushinagar & transfer to hotel. Night stay in Kushinagar.

DAY 07 : Kushinagar- Lumbini
After breakfast visit the Mahaparinirvana Temple & Stupas , later drive to Lumbini & transfer to hotel. Lumbini - the birthplace of the Buddha, was located in 1890 after being untraced for 1,500 years. Evening sightseeing tour of Lumbini including a visit to the birth Place of Lord Buddha. DAY 08 : Lumbini Sravasti
After breakfast drive to Lucknow enroute Sravasti - the capital of the ancient kingdom of Kosala, has the honour for sheltering Buddha for 24 rainy seasons in the Jetvana Gardens. The city believed to be founded by the mythological king Sravast, has age-old stupas, majestic monasteries and several temples. Buddha is said to have performed some miracles here. DAY 09 : Sravasti - Lucknow - Delhi

DAY 10 : Delhi - Departure
