Dhanteras – God Laxmiji Blessings The Joy and Happiness for Every One

Dhanteras is the first day celebration of the 5 day festival of Diwali. This festival is also called “Dhanatrayodashi” & “Dhanvantari Trayodashi”. Dhanteras is derived from two words “Dhan” which means wealth and Teras which means 13th day of Hindu calendar.

Goddess Laxmi is worshipped during this festival to bring wealth & prosperity in our house. People buy new utensils, jewelry etc and worship them. The God of assets (Lord Kuber) is also worshipped on this day.

Women make rangolies in the lobby of their house along with the symbol or sticker of Goddess Laxmi’s foot print is pasted on the main door of their house. This is to welcome the Goddess laxmi (Lord of wealth).
Sweets and Namkeens are offered to God and then is distributed to the entire family and friends as prasadam.

Dhanteras is treated as one of the major festivals in Hindu religion. It is purely believed that, worshipping the Goddess Laxmi this day with pure heart & soul increases the wealth and prosperity in one’s life.
